This course will cover many aspects of physics. Students have covered speed, velocity and acceleration and had their first test. We are finishing up the second unit of motion which covers Newton's three laws of motion and momentum. Ask them about the conservation of momentum with the marble lab they did last week. Students have a study guide due Monday and will have a test on Tuesday, September 11th unless the 9-11 program delays that, in which case it will be Wednesday. Please contact me with any concerns.

We have started the week off with measurement skills and learning to write lab reports correctly. Next week we will be discussing matter and changes. Students will review the difference between physical and chemical properties and changes. Be sure to check home page for pictures.

Students are finishing up Reactions and can expect a test on Friday. Study guides will be given out on Tuesday and will be due on Wednesday since i will not be there on Thursday to review. They will be doing a lab on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Thursday is club day and I will be out of the classroom for a science summit. Please contact me if you have any concerns or questions.

November 7-11
This week students are working on reactions - writing reactions, balancing equations, and identifying reaction types. No school on Tuesday, ACT prep in the gum on Wednesday morning, and more practice on reactions on Thursday and Friday. Please encourage your student to see me after school for extra help if needed.

October 10-14
Students are continuing to work on bonding. Monday will cover covalent bonding. Tuesday the students will be taking the ASVAB. Wednesday will cover empirical and molecular formulas. Students will get a study guide on Friday and a test will be next Tuesday as of right now.

Week 8
The students will be working on ACT prep on Monday and continue the bonding chapter on Tuesday. Wednesday most of the juniors will be gone on an Arts & Humanities field trip. We will work on naming ionic compounds on Thursday and start covalent molecules on Friday. Of course this can always change. The nine weeks ends Friday and Fall Break begins.

Week 7
Students were given a study guide on Friday which is due tomorrow (Monday). We will go over the study guide and review for the test on the Periodic Table, which will be on Tuesday. Wednesday is club day and depending on how many are out, we may start the next chapter with a lab on Wednesday. If too many are out for club meetings, we will start on Thursday. Our next unit is the structure of matter and we will be looking at ionic and covalent bonding. If we start do the lab on Wednesday, homework will be given on Thursday and Friday. However, if we don't do the lab until Thursday, homework will be on Friday only.
